She Hated Gardening - Moleskine Art

This image is a portrait of a couple I am related to by blood. Tbeir relationship as dramatic and compelling as an episode of Eastenders. They knew how to work each other, and they took full advantage of this knowledgr. He'd boast about how much control he had over 'his woman', and would regale anyone who's listen how he's worked women out. To him they were no longer a mystery. Meanwhile, his loving wife would spill all his intimate secrets to her girlfriends. As a child I knew when the women gathered together their conversation changed. I'd sneak around trying to look inconspicuous as I picked up crumbs of juicy gossip, not understanding much of it till years later. And what gossip! No holds barred, Xrated would be a conservative description. As an adult I realise that a lot of the marriages that were being discussed were arranged ones. Without the love component, these women felt no personal loyalty to their 'stranger' husbands. When you love someone, you are interested in presenting them in the best light, 'big them up' so to speak. Without love, it is a cold transaction. The women exacted small acts of revenge by betraying personal details, by puncturing their men's carefully crafted image. Since then I've always been a sucker for gossip....now where is my heat magazine?

Inmates At The Asylum - Moleskine Art

My humble tribute to the great poet Anne Sexton. Her work never ceases to inspire me ans spark endless pictures in my head that I can draw upon. I can't believe that her works are out of print in the UK, what a travesty!

Moleskine Diary Pages Jan 2012 - Bang

The eternal misunderstanding: A woman dreams of love and a man yearns for a screw, occasionally these wishes reverse.

A brand New Moleskine

The title page of the new book, I think that the theme is the connection between birth and creativity: a somewhat obvious one! The stuff inside my head eats it's way out one way or another. A process of externalising my inner thought process.

My favourite part of using Moleskine, brand new pages. I managed to buy a couple of new books from Ebay for around £8 a pop, a great improvement on the Waterstones / Smith's £14 plus.

Moleskine pages

A perfect afternoon of EBay and sex according to one of the Kardashian sisters: the new arbiters of taste, And the architects of our desires. They tell us what we should want and we dumbly oblige.

Moleskine pages..again!

We are all children in someways,  innocent and ignorant of what lies outside our field of vision.

No matter how old we are, we are still prey to hurtful comments and exclusion. Life is a school playground where we negotiate our alliances and pretend not to care when things go against us.

Does anyone remember Playschool? Every day we'd get to see through a different shaped window. I remember the thrill of anticipation as if it were yesterday.

A New Moleskone Jan 16th update (new pages)

I used a new little rubber stamp to decorate the wall, I hate having to repeat a pattern, stamps are much easier.

As I was drawing this, I pulled a thread in a crochet blanket fred bought from a charity shop, It made me think about unknown and unforseen consequences.

We found we had a family of rats living under the decking and that the ratcatcher had placed blocks of poison for them to feast on. On the one hand I felt awful for the poor creatures and the other I was worried about disease and our electric wires they nibble on.

I was watching Criminal Minds and thinking about human nature. How do you become a twisted, heartless killer?

I've always had a love-hate relationship with angels. As a child i would see angels scuttling along my bed-room ceiling, they were watching me and reporting my actions back to God. Mum never seemed to notice them but I was silently terrified all the time.

I am posting a few more pages from my current Moleskine sketchbook.
