Moleskine Pages- Cue For Murder
She knew tacitly what was expected of her. Every word came with it's own micro climate. She became expert at divining the weather. Sunshine was the cue for murder.

Moleskine Pages- On Silent Days
His skeletons were too numerous to confine to a cupboard. He didn't even bother to hide his trail of bloody devastation. She wouldn't hear a bad word against him. On silent days, the screams could be heard for months all round. She mopped up the blood and smiled to herself. She felt lucky most of the time, he loved her true!

Moleskine Pages- She Knew
She knew he knew. She liked knowing he knew. She spent so much time re papering the inside of her head she didn't hear his pain, that was a relief.
Dilemma
I was advised recently by an art critic that removing text from my work would make it more powerful. He offered his tips (I didn't ask for them!) generously and without prejudice. Work should speak for it's self and I should stop trying to control the narrative. I can see what he is saying. I only use text in my sketchbook and not on 'stand alone' pieces. But this has got me thinking. I do tend to work instinctively and the words are meant to illuminate not dominate. If any of you read this far I'd love to hear other opinions. Are the words a distraction?

Moleskine Pages - In Cold Blood
It took ages for him to stop moving. I didn't anticipate the silence. I now talk to myself most days and think of ways to pass the time.

Moleskine Pages- Drowning The Muse
Part III of 'The Murder Of The Muse' Series based on a poem by the artist and poet Vivienne strauss.
'She abhorred violence, and cringed at the "Look at me" displays of attention seeking petulance. But if the voices in her head and pictures in her mind took human form, she would cheerfully drown them.

Moleskine update
While I am working, I like to have noise in the background, so I often have the TV feeding constant information. These pages coincided with the very public trial of a Miss Casey Anthony for the murder of her 2 year old daughter. I got very caught up in the details of the trial and it seemed obvious to me that Casey was guilty. So the verdict was a huge shock. The whole infanticide, mother/ child dynamic is such a primal, complex one, that I felt compelled to try and work out my feelings. I had to try and separate my feelings of loathing for a complete stranger, from her alleged actions. As far as I can see the prosecution proved their case, but the jury saw differently. It is strange how fathers killing their children no longer even registers on the public conscience anymore, but a mother disposing of a child she brought into the world just takes us to another level of evil. This is a theme I'm sure will stay with me for a while yet.
