The 'Waawee' is a part of Iraqi folklore. A creature that is used to frighten children into coming indoors in the evening and getting ready for bed. Just the name still sends shivers down my spine. I always visualized him as an adult sized teddy bear with my father's features. As a child there was nothing scarier than my father so I suppose it is natural that he would invade my nightmares both sleeping and waking ones. Daddy what would have I used as inspiration had you been different?
