Moleskine Art - Refuse

I have been struggling recently with my work. I've never really stopped to think too deeply about what I am saying or how I'm saying it. I've concluded that over thinking is the best way to stifle my inner voice. That what works for me is to just put the pen to paper and see what turns up. Advance planning just brings on creative constipation. Trusting the inner voice however is not easy, if I argue with it, it just lies and tells me what it thinks I want to hear. A very delicate, easily wounded thing this damn voice!
So for the time being, I've decided to let my critical faculties take a back seat and trust my brain to hand connection. The resulting work might not appeal to everyone, but at least I'll know that I am offering my truth. I can't do any better than that!

  1. normal people don't have thoughts like these, that's why you are questioning yourself. What you need is psychiatric help..fast. Personally I am not interested in the garbage your mind spits out!!!!!!

I agree, over thinking things does cause constipation. I look forward to your posts and appreciate them.

  3. While I welcome comments positive or negative, I would like to make it clear that looking through my 'mind's garbage' isn't mandatory, it is highly personal and obviously not for everyone as seen from the comments.

  5. Critical faculties aren't the basis of art. Of engineering or science maybe, but art is made from other substances. I find one mind's garbage a very good support for it and your fantastic work prove it. Thanks for sharing!!!

  6. Thank you all for your generous comments, my mind's 'garbage' is the only unique voice I have to offer. I could immitate, copy or follow a trend far more easily and profitably but where would be the fun in that.
